Sarah Woodward

Background

Originally from St. Catharines Ontario, Sarah completed her bachelor degree in Medical Sciences at the University of Western Ontario before moving to Vancouver to start her PhD in Dr. Brett Finlay's laboratory at the University of British Columbia. Her research in the Finlay lab focuses on microbiota and immune barriers to enteric infection by pathogenic Escherichia coli. At UBC's Journal of Experimental Microbiology and Immunology (UJEMI), Sarah is a Project Manager for UJEMI-Methods. UJEMI-Methods is a new arm of UJEMI which features student-made videos that break down scientific techniques into their theory and applications, and provides visual demonstrations of technique performance. Videos are to be published alongside protocol papers written by UBC students. As a Project Manager Sarah coordinates student teams through the video-making process from idea generation to storyboarding, video production, and finally the publication of methods videos as instructional tools. Sarah is has also participated in UJEMI as a reviewer for UJEMI+.
